  • How do I download printable versions of my templates?
    • From the SHARE button in the top right corner of the Canva webpage, select Download.

  • Which download settings on Canva should I use for printing?
    • Under the File Type drop-down menu, select PDF Print, then check both Crop marks and bleed
and Flatten PDF. These selections will preserve the accuracy and quality of the templates on
      your printed versions.

  • What is the purpose of Crop marks and bleed?
    • Crop marks are small crosshairs in the corners of a printed page that indicate the edge of a
design or template for where to trim the paper. They help ensure the document is trimmed to
the correct size. In this case, the edges will be marked at 5x7 inches.
    • Bleed extends any background graphics beyond the crop mark (otherwise known as the trim
lines) to ensure there is no unintentional white border around the background graphics. This
won’t affect any templates that already have a white background.

  • What is the purpose of Flatten PDF?
    • This process ensures all visual elements are printed accurately. Skipping this step may result in
errors or discrepancies in your printed copies.

  • To provide the most seamless user experience, some graphics on your templates may be locked. Locking the graphics
ensures you won’t accidentally move their positions when changing other content on the template.

  • If you wish to edit any of the graphics, you have the ability to unlock this content.
    • Canva Instructions: select the content you wish you move, then click the lock icon twice. Hint: the lock icon will
appear in a toolbar directly above the selected content.

  • These templates are already optimally designed for the best user experience, however, if you wish to change content
beyond the text, fonts and colors you are free to do so. Please note that Canva’s free version has a limited selection of
    font styles and graphics.
    • Changing the spacing and/or positioning of content on templates is not recommended. The re-alignment process
can be tricky and time consuming.

  • What type of paper is recommended?
    • Cardstock Paper in Plain White. Do not use textured cardstock paper as it may be difficult for guests to write on the paper.

  • What weight of paper is recommended?
    • Medium to Heavy Weight (80-110 lbs/215-300 gsm)
    • The weight of paper refers to its thickness and sturdiness. The higher the weight, the greater its thickness and sturdiness. For
reference, 80 lb to 100 lb Cardstock Paper (~215-270 gsm) are typically used for greeting cards, whereas 110 lb (~300 gsm)
Cardstock Paper is common for wedding announcements and formal invitations.
    • Keep in mind that printers have varying limitations for paper weight. Please refer to your respective printer’s manual for it’s
maximum paper weight specifications before attempting to print on heavier cardstock.

  • What size paper is recommended?
    • Standard Letter Size (8.5 x 11 inches) if printing 2 copies per page (recommended for home printing and novice printer users).
    • Pre-sized 5x7 inches
      • if using a professional printing service, or
      • if your home printer meets the requirements for printing on this size (recommended for more experienced printer users).

  • What type of printer is recommended?
    • Inkjet or Laser Printer. Inkjet printers use ink droplets to create printed copies
of text and images. They are a popular choice for home printing. Laser printers
use a laser beam to create high-quality text and graphics. These printers are
more commonly used in offices and professional printing services.

  • How do I print 2 copies of a template on 1 piece of paper?
    • The templates are size 5 (width) x 7 (height) inches, allowing you to fit 2 copies
on a standard letter size piece of paper. Note that the copies will print side-by-
side in landscape orientation (as seen in the example photo).
    • From your print settings, make sure to select Print Entire Image. This setting will
      ensure both templates and the
Crop marks are included in the printed versions.
    • Instructions for printing multiple copies per page will vary by device (PC,
MacBook, Mobile, Tablet) and type of printer (Inkjet or Laser). Please refer to
their respective manuals for further information on setting up your print
      settings.

  • What orientation should I use for printing 2 copies on 1 piece of paper?
    • Your printer settings should automatically default to print in Portrait
orientation. If they do not default to Portrait, you will need to enable it
manually. Do not print in landscape or your templates will shrink in size.

  • What tool should I use to trim (or cut) the templates once they are printed?

Note if you are printing these templates on pre-sized 5x7 inch paper, you do not need to do any trimming.

    • The simplest paper cutting tool you can find at home is a pair of sharp, fine-tip scissors. Generally a pair of craft or kitchen shears are sharp
enough to cut through cardstock paper. You will need to cut each sheet one at a time for the best results.

    • A great tool for precision cutting at home is a rotary paper trimmer/cutter. This tool sits on a flat surface (e.g. a desk, dining room table, etc.)
with a grid pattern (for lining up with cross marks) and a rolling blade that cuts where you slide the paper. Rotary paper trimmers are
inexpensive and don’t take up a lot of storage space. They can generally handle 2 sheets of heavy cardstock at a time.

    • A better tool for precision cutting is a guillotine trimmer. These paper cutters are similar to rotary trimmers but feature a large sharp blade
which can handle larger volumes of paper. This tool is commercial grade and usually found in offices and professional printing shops. While
this tool is superior to a rotary paper trimmer or pair of scissors, it’s higher in price and much bulkier to store at home.

    • You can achieve professional grade cutting without a professional printing service if you have access to an electronic paper cutter. These
motor powered paper cutters automatically cut multiple sheets of paper with the highest level of precision. This tool is the most expensive
paper cutter on the market and typically only used by professional printers.

  • If I’m using a professional printing service, will they cut my templates for me?
    • Yes, professional printing services such as your local UPS store will have high-quality paper cutting tools. You can request the store clerk to
cut your printed sheets along the crop mark lines which are sized at 5x7 inches. Note this is not necessary if printing on pre-sized 5x7 sheets.
    • If you are ordering your prints from an online printing service, mark sure to note that these templates should be 5x7 inches in their final
      printed and trimmed versions.
